Authentic Nature
A lost sheep, Spanien
2009
Artwork text and archival details
Adapted from the artist’s archive.
Golden evening light lies over a dry field in Mallorca. Gentle hills, scattered trees and straw bales establish the scale of the landscape before the eye discovers a single sheep. Its small presence changes the view from an expanse of land into a scene with a possible story.
The title leaves the animal poised between solitude and freedom. Light brings out the textures of the field, while the soft blue sky extends its stillness. What first seems incidental becomes the point around which questions of belonging and distance begin to gather.
