A closer look at the work
Green leaves hang like an irregular curtain across the upper part of the picture. Long narrow blades grow into the view from below. Between them lies a very bright, sometimes almost white field of light that reveals depth only in fragments. The lake named in the title remains largely concealed behind shoreline growth; nearby greenery defines the visible landscape.
The photograph offers a position among plants rather than an unobstructed overview. The eye looks through leaves and blades, finding small openings along the way. This restriction makes proximity tangible. Brightness in the distance draws attention, while differently shaped leaves hold it at the shore. Looking becomes an exchange between an opening and the visible forms that obstruct it.
