The Infrared Journey
Beech forest in bavaria, Deutschland
2021
A closer look at the work
Several substantial dark trunks divide the view vertically. Pink and whitish foliage forms a fine branching layer between them. Beyond the trees, a brighter landscape opens under a cloudy sky. Dense foreground growth contrasts with the distant view through the gaps.
Shifted colour emphasises the difference between supporting wood and delicate leaves. The trunks also resemble pillars framing a view. This is a formal reading, suggesting how the eye finds rooms within a forest whose boundaries have grown irregularly.
