Low sunlight enters a Finnish birch forest and brings its white trunks into a luminous rhythm. Each trunk has its own markings, yet together they create a pattern that leads the eye through the trees. Light moves across the green ground, separating and reconnecting the layers of the forest.
Moss, grasses and foliage respond to small changes in illumination. The photograph holds a brief arrangement of brightness and shadow, suggesting how a place can remain vivid in memory after its light has changed. Its stillness emerges through attention to these differences rather than through an absence of movement.
