A closer look at the work
Heavy branches span a narrow dark path. Light picks out a multipart trunk on the left; fine twigs and long grasses thicken on the right. A brighter opening appears beyond this near zone. The viewpoint stays beneath low branches, presenting the forest as an enclosing space rather than a distant view.
Deutscher Wald 2 directs attention along a passage determined by growing forms. Lit branches seem both to permit and obstruct entry. Alternating light and darkness establish an uneven spatial order. The landscape cannot be grasped at once, requiring successive small orientations between route, obstacle and possible opening.
