Time Flies
Eisbach Surfer 2, Deutschland
2015
A closer look at the work
Water flows forward beneath a two-arched stone bridge as a soft pale blue surface. Human forms and a light board stand at the right edge, partly blurred. Round openings and stone details articulate the parapet; greenery encloses the scene.
Smooth water conveys movement without preserving individual waves. Sharp stone remains a measure. People mark the transition from built bank to current, their uncertain contours visually closer to water than bridge. Fixed architecture, temporary bodily position and changing surface offer different kinds of support within one place.
