A closer look at the work
Dense ferns spread before slender trees and a bright green canopy. Fan-shaped fronds repeat across the foreground, answered by longer vertical trunks. Patches of light cross the vegetation, while a more broadly branching tree helps hold the composition together.
The title's fairy-tale association can arise from this abundance without requiring an invented story. Ferns conceal possible routes while establishing their own order. Individual leaves carry as much visual importance as the larger relationship between trees and depth.
