Time Flies
Flea Market, Deutschland
2011
A closer look at the work
Pale glasses and vessels crowd a horizontal stall. Transparent walls overlap and admit fragments of the background. A golden vessel introduces colour near the centre, with brighter small objects at the side. Trees, roofs and sky remain faint beyond.
Transparency gives this still life multiple layers. Objects conceal and admit space at once. A glass has an outline, yet its interior also belongs visually to what lies behind it. The market arrangement becomes a temporary order of shifting relationships.
