A closer look at the work
The eye looks almost straight through a long sequence of vivid red gates. Black feet rest on uneven ground crossed by bright and dark diagonals. Posts converge into density; crossbars divide the upper space into shrinking sections. Small light patches interrupt the red enclosure.
The route is clear, but uneven ground resists pure abstraction. Crossed shadows recall the bodily experience of travelling a distance. Gates provide a regular beat that light modifies. Repeated construction and changing appearance coexist, allowing the gaze to walk a route whose constant formal principle looks different at every depth.
