Authentic Nature
Green tree in a dark forest, Deutschland
2015
Artwork text and archival details
Adapted from the artist’s archive.
A single green tree stands out against the surrounding darkness. Its colour acquires intensity through this contrast, while the black background separates its form from the forest around it.
The composition can be read in relation to the Romantic tradition of experiencing nature as both a visual and an inward encounter. The isolated tree suggests solitude, but the image leaves its emotional significance open: the same separation can appear vulnerable, self-contained or quietly assured.
