A closer look at the work
The crop shows overlapping hands of a large seated figure. Fine marks and folds articulate dark green-patinated material. A small dish with two green fruits is soft in the foreground. With the head excluded, calm hand shapes meet surrounding curved garment lines.
Proximity turns a monument into an encounter with one gesture. Small fruit and large modelled fingers establish scale. Lasting form and temporary objects can be compared without prescribing ritual meaning. Material precision and recurring curves create stillness without claiming an inner state for the represented figure.
