Water
Ocean of isle of skye, Schottland
2018
A closer look at the work
A high cliff drops almost vertically towards the sea on the left. Its upper edge is straight, while dark columns and fractured surfaces divide the rock below. Small stones gather at its foot. Broad blue water opens on the right and fades towards a pale, barely separated sky.
Ocean of Isle of Skye places a dense material boundary beside open space. Cliff detail holds the eye while sea lets it move into distance. The wide frame preserves both experiences. Coast becomes a contact zone where solid mass and moving surface limit one another and, through that relationship, produce the landscape’s visible form.
