A closer look at the work
The curled figure occupies the lower part of a pale field of overlapping rectangles. Broad yellow, green and pink areas remain open above the rounded back. Red colours the left side; dark blue conceals the lower contour. Small curves of folded legs repeat on the right. Colour surrounds and crosses the comparatively small figure.
Ground and body have distinct weights here. Geometry seems able to continue without the figure, yet the back changes it by relating straight edges to tangible curvature. The posture gathers below while the upper field stays open. Withdrawal becomes a formal possibility without prescribing the person's feelings.
