A large, brightly outlined circular form extends across sky and sea. Its interior appears in warm yellow and pink tones, while the edges of the image remain dark blue. The horizon crosses the lower part of the circle. Below it, a bright trail of light runs over the moving water towards the foreground; individual waves break it into short, irregular lines.
Sun halo: play of light over ocean waves sets the enclosed circular form against the open horizon and the finely divided rhythm of the water. Light seems to be both a surface and a path: it holds the eye within the circle and draws it across the sea. The photograph allows these different spatial effects to coexist. Where do we see a boundary, and where does our gaze begin to cross it?
