The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between

The Weight of Light

The Weight of Light

The Weight of Light

A closer look at the work

The trunk stands at the right edge while its broad golden crown reaches left across almost the entire image. A dark band of sea remains visible beneath low branches. Rocky ground fills the foreground, with pale mountains opposite. The tree’s sideways extension becomes stronger against the quiet, nearly horizontal horizon.

The Weight of Light can be read as a description of visual weight. The bright crown occupies a large area although its individual leaves remain small. A curved trunk connects this apparent suspension to stony ground. Extension and support meet within the composition, presenting a balance made tangible precisely through its pronounced asymmetry.
