The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between
Bahnhof Potsdamer Platz
A closer look at the work
The words “Bahnhof Potsdamer Platz” run across the glass entrance hall. Vertical supports divide its transparent front, where further buildings and pale interior structures overlap. A violet container stands on the left, while a massive rounded structure bounds the right edge. Long, sharply drawn shadows cross the open paving and repeat parts of the architectural grid.
Infrared colour shifts the familiar relationship between glass, stone and sky: turquoise and violet give technical surfaces an unfamiliar atmosphere. The lettering nevertheless remains a clear point of orientation. Tension develops between an identifiable place and its changed appearance. The station reveals spatial thresholds between the open square, a transparent envelope and the transport space beyond.
