The Infrared Journey
Navadvip Train Station
2022
A closer look at the work
Trees with strongly pink crowns rise above Navadvip’s platform. Horizontal power lines divide the blue sky and cross their irregular growth. Small buildings, a sheltered waiting area and individual people form a sequence below. The platform edge closes the picture with a long horizontal line that recalls the ordering of the wires above.
The station appears both as transport infrastructure and as a place shaped by vegetation. Trees occupy much more space than the travellers, yet the small human figures establish its scale. Unfamiliar colour changes the hierarchy of the everyday. A place usually oriented towards departure becomes, for the duration of looking, a distinct space containing several different rhythms.
