The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between

A closer look at the work

People sit and stand in small groups on the bridge among bicycles, bollards and the ornamental railing. The paving appears turquoise blue, while tree canopies and parts of the clothing stand out in orange and red. A double lantern forms a bright accent to the right of centre against the greenish sky. Faces, gestures and directions of gaze distribute attention across the image.

The unfamiliar colours connect an everyday encounter with an apparently strange city scene. They do not sort people and objects into a simple division between living and non-living: warm and cool tones also alternate within the figures. Between individual conversations and the crowded surface, an image of proximity emerges in which each group occupies its own small space. How does colour change the way we look at a place we think we know?

Personal consultation

The work, the space, the presentation.

What interests you about this work? I take time for your questions, its origins and its place in a collection. Together, we explore differences between works and their relationship with space, light and architecture.

Size, selected materials and bespoke framing are carefully coordinated. The precise presentation develops through our conversation.

A photograph of the intended space can help us consider scale and placement.
