The Infrared Journey
ZUGERSEE #2
2023
Artwork text and archival details
Adapted from the artist’s archive.
Morning light moves across the surface of Lake Zug. Infrared photography transforms the promenade into an unfamiliar landscape of colour: crimson trees are reflected in deep-blue water, while the architecture along the shore retains its recognisable forms.
The buildings provide a point of contact between the everyday setting and the altered vision of the photograph. Reflections and clear details hold the scene in a moment of stillness. The work is both a view of a Swiss lakeside and a reflection on seeing itself: how much of a place do we recognise through its colours?
