The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between
Signal and Symbol
A closer look at the work
Berlin’s television tower rises between a dark edge on the left and a long windowed façade on the right. Its sphere forms a single bright knot on a slender vertical line. Roofs step down below it, while wires and scaffolding cross the open sky. The shadowed street increases the distance from the illuminated summit.
The photograph attaches the landmark to a particular view from within the city. It appears among everyday façades, technical lines and cropped buildings. Its function as a signal becomes spatially tangible: a distant sign remains present where the surroundings permit only a narrow glimpse. The title connects this orientation with the way repeated views enter personal knowledge of a place.
