The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between
On the Road: Part One
A closer look at the work
The windscreen bounds an unusual roadside scene. A large dinosaur figure stands behind a fence, before pink trees and a yellow sky. A hand along the lower edge, the dashboard and a cropped mirror make the vehicle’s interior visible. Between these nearby elements and the figure, a dark road forms a broad band.
The viewpoint is explicitly travelling and physically situated. The artificial animal introduces another scale into an ordinary traffic environment. Colour intensifies its strangeness without removing signs or roadside equipment. The photograph holds together an accidental proximity of everyday function and spectacle, the kind of conjunction that can suddenly become a coherent image when seen in passing.
