A closer look at the work

The dark road rises to a crest and disappears beyond it. A small rickshaw sits off-centre where the road meets the bright sky. Coral palms and dense foliage frame the open space, while power lines draw thin diagonals across the sky. Kerbs and hedges lead towards the vehicle; its open body looks especially light against the width of the road.

The crucial feature is the threshold at the horizon: it reveals a route while concealing its continuation. Whether the rickshaw is waiting or travelling cannot be determined with certainty from this single image. That temporal openness shapes the scene. The empty road becomes a space of anticipation without prescribing a story. Vehicle, wires and trimmed plants make the landscape legible as an everyday environment shaped by people, prepared for movement that the photograph holds in suspension.

Personal consultation

The work, the space, the presentation.

What interests you about this work? I take time for your questions, its origins and its place in a collection. Together, we explore differences between works and their relationship with space, light and architecture.

Size, selected materials and bespoke framing are carefully coordinated. The precise presentation develops through our conversation.

A photograph of the intended space can help us consider scale and placement.
