The Red Carpet of Paris

The Red Carpet of Paris

A closer look at the work

From an elevated viewpoint, a vivid red axis cuts through densely built Paris. The rectangular spaces of the Champ de Mars draw the eye backwards, reinforced by parallel rows of trees. A heavy, greenish sky hangs over grey rooftops. A dark tower marks the distance, interrupting the city’s horizontal spread.

The carpet named in the title emerges from a spatial order made particularly visible through colour. Paths, open spaces and vegetation become elements of a large arrangement. Yet the densely varied buildings resist this strict centre. The photograph brings together the planned overview of an urban axis and the multiplicity of a city that exceeds that order.

Personal consultation

The work, the space, the presentation.

What interests you about this work? I take time for your questions, its origins and its place in a collection. Together, we explore differences between works and their relationship with space, light and architecture.

Size, selected materials and bespoke framing are carefully coordinated. The precise presentation develops through our conversation.

A photograph of the intended space can help us consider scale and placement.
