Paris Squid Game
A closer look at the work
People spread across a broad grey space outside the Louvre. Red and pink areas of clothing stand out against the dark palace façade. On the right, the glass pyramid’s clear triangle answers the many small human shapes; low cubes in the foreground articulate the recession into space. Pale clouds cross a turquoise sky.
The title Paris Squid Game introduces a media association into an everyday scene of visitors. The photograph itself establishes no division between perpetrators and victims. Instead, colour and arrangement make familiar public space appear strange. Individual visitors briefly become a shifting pattern, while architecture and markings on the ground structure the space they share.
