The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between
Rakotz Bridge – Circle of Reflection
A closer look at the work
A steep stone arch spans two massive banks articulated by upright columns. Turquoise stone contrasts with dense coral foliage. Reflection completes an almost closed circle, but fine ripples break its lower half into small displacements. Within this enclosure, a narrow group of upright stones stands off-centre in the water, preventing perfect symmetry.
The circle belongs to no single object. One half is built architecture; the other is an appearance on a moving surface. Their connection depends on water level, light and viewpoint. Photography gathers these conditions while preserving their differences. Heavy stone and fleeting counterpart produce an apparent completeness resting on instability. Small disruptions in reflection matter as much as the broad arch.
