The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between

A closer look at the work

Tracks branch immediately before the viewer and converge beneath the heavy frame of a crane. A locomotive and freight wagons bound the space on the left; on the right, it opens towards the water. Further crane booms reach into the pale sky. Orange and pink tufts of vegetation occupy the gaps between sleepers and ballast. Their colour distributes small, irregular accents across an environment whose larger forms are defined by load, guidance and reach.

Perspective draws us deep into the picture, but the points offer more than one possible direction. The harbour appears as a system of transitions between rail, quay and water. No people are visible; their labour remains present in the scale and wear of the equipment. Between these massive structures, vegetation grows without following any visible transport plan. The image allows both orders to coexist, presenting infrastructure as a space that carries use and change within it.

Personal consultation

The work, the space, the presentation.

What interests you about this work? I take time for your questions, its origins and its place in a collection. Together, we explore differences between works and their relationship with space, light and architecture.

Size, selected materials and bespoke framing are carefully coordinated. The precise presentation develops through our conversation.

A photograph of the intended space can help us consider scale and placement.
