The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between

A closer look at the work

Seen from close below, the tower rises and narrows into a muted yellow-green sky. Window arches, ribs and small pinnacles repeat its direction at increasingly fine scales. The lower structure extends beyond the frame, withholding a clearly bounded base. The façade becomes less a graspable whole than a succession of details that the eye follows upwards. Red-brown shadows and pale areas of stone preserve the density of its surface.

This view translates architectural scale into the bodily experience of looking up. We can recognise the building while finding no final resting point among its many details. The soft, almost featureless sky intensifies the sharply articulated edges. A tension develops between heavy material and ascending form. The photograph sustains it: stone remains visibly stone, while its arrangement repeatedly directs the gaze beyond whichever section we are currently studying.

Personal consultation

The work, the space, the presentation.

What interests you about this work? I take time for your questions, its origins and its place in a collection. Together, we explore differences between works and their relationship with space, light and architecture.

Size, selected materials and bespoke framing are carefully coordinated. The precise presentation develops through our conversation.

A photograph of the intended space can help us consider scale and placement.
