Romance of Elements
Rainforest II, Neuseeland
2006
A closer look at the work
Dark trees and overhanging branches enclose a narrow woodland space. A warm orange area glows deep inside, lighting ground and branches while cool blue shows through above. Vegetation partly conceals the source.
Colour contrast leads the eye inward. The warm interior seems reachable but remains separated by the dark foreground. Approach and concealment establish a spatial narrative without specifying an event: light organises the woodland from within.
