Romance of Elements
Rainforest, Neuseeland
2006
A closer look at the work
Long green leaves cross in the foreground. Dark trunks and dense foliage stand behind them, with orange light appearing between plants. This bright area has no simple contour, interrupted by numerous small forms. Almost black edges intensify the sense of looking from nearby shadow towards a limited opening.
Rainforest presents colour as a spatial event. Warm brightness draws attention backwards while sharp foreground leaves hold it near. The view does not fully explain the light source. Visible and concealed become a concrete relationship: individual surfaces appear precisely, while the connection between their illumination remains open and readable only in parts.
