An urban panorama meets nature – a project for the Boston Consulting Group in Düsseldorf

Claudia de Bruyn’s projects “are the result of a holistic exploration of space and the design questions that span its disciplines.”
The architect and interior designer created the interiors for the Boston Consulting Group’s offices in Düsseldorf’s landmark Stadttor building, near the Media Harbour. From the 19th floor, the consulting firm overlooks the harbour, the Rhine and the bustling city of Düsseldorf.

To create a calming contrast to this urban panorama and the demands of daily office life, de Bruyn chose natural materials and a large-scale photograph from my 2008 series ‘Birkenwald’. The photograph measures 10 × 5 metres and defines the space as part of a concept for rest and relaxation. Its inviting, light-green colours combine a sense of springtime renewal with a feeling of calm and seclusion. Partially enclosed lounge structures clad in tree bark appear to float on water. Together with quiet birdsong, they complete the experience for visitors.

Location: The Boston Consulting Group, Düsseldorf
