Berlin half marathon, Leipziger strasse ii, DeutschlandA closer look at the work
Two people stand in the foreground of a broad street. Behind them, a reddish band of blurred runners crosses the space. Markings and small objects occupy the asphalt; tall buildings bound the view while a slender lamp rises into pale sky. The standing bodies remain distinct against the movement.
The Berlin half marathon changes the use of an ordinary traffic space. Different speeds make that shift visible. Observers occupy the same street as runners yet become a stable reference. Architecture, ground and people acquire different degrees of duration. Temporary use shapes this city view as strongly as the existing buildings do.
