Reflections of India
Birkenwald und Berg 2, Indien
2018
A closer look at the work
A larger pale birch stands near the vertical centre, dividing into branches among thinner trees. Brown slopes and dark vegetation appear behind, with grass, moss and stones below. Bare branches admit many small glimpses of the background.
The central tree anchors a view extended by neighbouring trunks. A single form organises the landscape against the mountain's broader mass. Linear growth and extensive terrain meet through the crop's close relationship of scale.
