Reflections of India
Dschungle west bengal 2, Indien
2022
Artwork text and archival details
Adapted from the artist’s archive.
Dark shading and rich greens give the vegetation of West Bengal a dense, layered presence. The photograph draws attention to the depth of the jungle rather than reducing it to a distant scenic view.
Differences within the green allow the eye to move gradually through the image. Its character emerges from this relation between the visible surfaces and the shadowed spaces beyond them.
