Reflections of India
Fog in vrindavana, Indien
2011
A closer look at the work
A tree rises behind low walls into a dark-blue sky. Warm light catches its trunk and branching limbs, spreading into a bright mist on the right. Brickwork, a narrow passage and small objects remain distinct below. Above, contours dissolve in haze, allowing the tree to connect built enclosure with open sky.
Fog in Vrindavana joins an everyday setting to an altered distribution of visibility. Wall surfaces establish proximity and scale, but mist prevents a complete survey. The bright area makes the source of light less important than its spatial effect. Looking follows the trunk upwards into surroundings that become softer and less definite with distance.
