Urban · Visions of Time
Gateway, Schweiz
2012
A closer look at the work
A very narrow passage opens between tall walls. Greenish ground leads towards a brighter building beyond, beneath a thin violet strip of sky. Rails, pipes and dark edges heighten the constriction of the elongated frame.
Gateway names an opening, while the photograph examines the conditions of looking through it. Walls permit only a small portion of the city to appear, giving distant brightness extra weight. A route connects spaces while strictly defining what can be seen along it.
