Reflections of India
Holi 1, Indien
2014
A closer look at the work
Several people stand close within an almost entirely red space. A central figure holds an arm across the body; heads enter from below and the group thickens above. Shiny and matte areas alternate on clothing and skin. Faces emerge gradually from an initially unified field.
Looking must shift between crowd and person. Red unity is strong but incomplete: postures and intervals retain differences. Cropped heads reveal the viewpoint's proximity and a scene continuing beyond the frame. Shared presence appears without making individual experiences or the full gathering knowable.
