Reflections of India
Jagannath temple puri, Indien
2022
A closer look at the work
A tall densely articulated tower rises against dark blue-green sky. Lit ribs narrow towards a rounded crown with coloured details and a flag. Lower structures gather at its foot. Vertical framing strengthens ascent and open sky clarifies edges.
Illumination reveals architecture unevenly. Repeated uprights guide the eye until the small flag interrupts, its lightness countering massive form. Built duration meets an apparently mobile summit. No particular religious experience can be inferred; weight, rhythm and light already establish the spatial effect.
