Urban · Visions of Time
New York Silver Edition 3, USA
2010
A closer look at the work
An intricately articulated high-rise stands between strict gridded facades. Stepped upper edges meet a large diagonal shadow across its front. A pale horizontally lined wall rises behind, with many grey tones distinguishing the forms.
Different facade orders coexist without requiring a historical account. Shadow adds a temporary geometry to built volume. The eye moves between identifiable buildings and an abstract composition of grid, diagonal and irregular silhouette.
