Reflections of India
Pilgrims at govardhan 2, Indien
2014
A closer look at the work
Four people walk in a loose line before an almost black background. Red, violet and orange fabrics distinguish their bodies. Feet cast long shadows across pale ground. Postures vary: arms remain close, extend slightly or hold cloth. They share a direction without matching their steps.
Pilgrims at Govardhan 2 makes a shared journey tangible through differences within the group. The side view reveals spacing and movement while darkness reduces the surroundings. Attention concentrates on a short sequence of bodily presences. Community appears as distinct people travelling alongside one another, rather than one uniform posture in which individual characteristics disappear.
