A closer look at the work
Two women walk beside one another through warm light. Turquoise defines the leading figure, while the second figure’s green is interrupted by a dark wrap and reddish fabric. Both head coverings stand out against blackness. Their legs occupy different phases of a step, and narrow shadows extend rightwards across the sandy-coloured ground.
Related colours create cohesion without merging the figures. The nearer person is more clearly illuminated, while the other remains partly overlapped. A shared rhythm combines with a slight spatial staggering. The picture shows the possibility of sharing a route while remaining differently visible. Their proximity alone does not determine the relationship between the women.
