Urban · Visions of Time
Tower block 2, Usa
2010
A closer look at the work
Rectangular office buildings overlap to the frame’s edges. A pale structure with horizontal window bands stands in front of larger glass-and-metal grids. A smaller building with a dark steep roof remains visible between them. Almost no sky appears, making the city a dense arrangement of different scales.
Tower Block 2 combines different kinds of division as well as height. Narrow and broad window sequences compete for attention, interrupted by the older-looking roof. The city becomes readable as coexistence rather than one unified façade. Close cropping preserves differences that a distant skyline view might merge into a single outline.
