A closer look at the work
Golden lines cross a wide fan of railway tracks. From the elevated viewpoint, switches, overhead wires and parallel rails form a dense drawing. Industrial halls and residential buildings stand between them; at the upper edge, the city gives way to a wooded ridge. Warm light gathers attention on the rails, while greenish buildings and shadows provide a quieter surrounding field.
Tracks considers the city through its infrastructure. Connections, junctions and predetermined routes take the place of individual people. This raises a social question: how much of our movement is shaped by structures we scarcely notice in daily life? The branches suggest possibilities, yet each rail also prescribes a direction. The photograph leaves this contradiction open. Moving between legible transport patterns and an almost abstract accumulation of lines, the railway becomes an image of organised time.
