Reflections of India
Wave Breakers, Indien
2013
A closer look at the work
Massive multi-armed concrete forms lie packed along a coast. Large wall blocks bound the left, carrying a small red warning sign; calm blue water opens right. The elongated frame follows interlocking bodies towards a distant structure.
Repeated shapes imply a system, yet placement remains irregular. Interlocking makes holding and boundary-making intelligible without technical explanation. Open water counters heavy bodies with a broad surface. Coast appears as a constructed edge where material answers movement that, in the visible moment, seems undramatic.
