Artwork text and archival details

Visitors at the Kaiyūkan aquarium in Osaka stand in warm half-light before an immense blue tank. As time accumulates in the photograph, their moving bodies become partially transparent. The glass separates air from water, yet the image allows the two spaces to overlap visually.
The title X-Ray draws attention to this dissolution of the human figures. The visitors look into another habitat while their own presence becomes less certain. Warm and cool colours, stillness and movement bring questions of difference and interdependence into view: how do we understand a world in which we cannot ourselves live?
