A spiritual moment on the sacred river

Poet mist lies over the Yamuna River as the first pilgrims of the day reverently enter the stone steps of Keshi Ghat. Barefoot wrapped in warm cloths and accompanied by the scent of past prayers, they descend to the water – in a scene of devotion and dignity. Scattered petals shine on the damp ground: silent witnesses to spiritual rituals and the timeless connection between man and the divine.

A bridge between the worlds

The Yamuna is more than a river – it is a mythical place. Believers see it as a goddess that brings purification and salvation. Here, past and present, legend and reality merge. The work captures this sacred moment – with a look full of respect and inner tranquility, carried by the warmth of light and the mist that envelops the world in silence.

A work full of depth and concentration

This image was taken in the early hours of the morning, when the first light penetrated a scenery of timeless aura. Amidst the stepped landscape and the dimly visible boats, it reflects the ancient quest for retreat—a place where silence, spirituality and hope unite.

Art for Spaces of Reflection

“Descending to Yamuna River” is an invitation to pause. The calm composition and the muted earth tones create a contemplative space that arranges thoughts and centers emotions. This work is more than just photography – it is a gateway to the inner world. An anchor for everyone who wants to create a place of peace in their surroundings.

Rituals in the morning fog

Two women emerge clearly from the grey haze in the foreground; behind them, another figure remains only faintly visible. Yellow and white glow on the left, answered by dark red on the right. The shawls frame the lowered faces, while light picks out hands, folds of fabric and bangles. A stone step scattered with a few petals lies along the lower edge of the image.

Focused upwards

The upright movement of the two figures in front contrasts with the almost shapeless depth behind them. Colour and light make distance and proximity tangible. The title refers to a return from the Yamuna River; what preceded this moment remains outside the image. Might this concentration suggest a form of inward reflection without attributing thoughts to the people depicted?

Rest for the essentials

The bold colors of her robes shine through the fog, muted and yet determined. This photograph is a place of retreat. It gives clarity, contemplation - a daily invitation to strip off the ballast of life. Whoever looks at this work witnesses an inner movement: from heaviness to lightness, from the earthly to the spiritual.

A place for letting go and trust

This work anchors itself in the room like a silent prayer. It's more than an image -- it's a daily anchor. A silent promise that every day can be a new beginning. Feel the energy of that moment? Its serenity? The quiet power of confidence? Bring that memory of what's essential into your home. As a source of inner peace -- and as a work of art of lasting value.

Tradition in step

In Vrindavan, which religious tradition associates with Krishna’s childhood as a cowherd, hundreds of believers make their pilgrimage every day on the long circuit (Parikrama). During the Holi Festival, their numbers multiply to tens of thousands. The crowd moves in step, unstoppable in their traditions. A scholar emerges from the crowd and looks at two young men leaning against their motorcycles with a mobile phone, wristwatch, jeans and checkered shirt – a contrast between the past and the modern.

The Eternal Cycle
Every day this pilgrimage is made anew, like a living clockwork that draws its eternal circles. The two observers seem like foreign bodies in this movement, as if they were put into the scenery from a different time. But they are not – they represent modern India, which deals with the millennia-old tradition.

No time for standstill
The movement almost blurs the individual, while the colorful tide of robes flows incessantly, time itself never stops, never.

What will remain? This photograph!
Tradition and modernity - a contradiction? Maybe. But hasn't it always been? Here it is the pilgrims who move while the young men stand still. A symbol of the eternal competition between the old and the new, between the familiar and the unknown. This work, with its powerful colors, captures the flow of time - and in it a very special moment.

Spirituality that takes hold

The work opens questions about faith, devotion and community within the context of religious traditions. Demon Holika and in honor of the God of Krishna Every year, thousands of believers are attracted and I was there up close.

Like a God in a magnificent robe

The images and impressions that came to me were strange and yet so rousing as if I were part of this surging crowd. Luminous colour powder decorated. They Spirituality of the Moment I was very close and I was able to capture this unique picture with my camera.

The question of connection

Faith can give people strength and hope. This photograph of Holi can be read as an expression of a longing for community and connection. The idea of overcoming social boundaries becomes a question addressed to the image and to us: how can a shared moment lead to a sense of belonging?

The Triumph of Good Over Evil
The victory of good over evil is among the religious interpretations of Holi. This photograph at the Baladev Dauji Temple can prompt thoughts about reconciliation and community. The ceremony is over for today, and in the middle of a lake of red paint, a boy sits, immersed in his own thoughts.

Color over the past
It reminds us that only the present really matters. Don't we hold on to old disputes for too long? Why not just pour colorful paint over the past and make room for a harmonious future?

Reflecting on reconciliation
The motif can be read as an echo of the exuberant festivities. It opens a space for thinking about forgiveness and reconciliation. What place might reconciliation have in our own lives?

Looking ahead
Reconciliation can become a guiding idea when contemplating this work: how do we relate to the past, and what do we wish to carry into the future? The photograph leaves these questions open.

What does patience mean when feelings change?

This work inspires to bring compassion and humanity into everyday life.

A spiritual encounter in Vrindavan

In the midst of the silence of the night, in the sacred Keshi Ghat Temple of Vrindavan, a moment of deep spirituality is revealed. The group of pilgrims in this picture is not only a family in the classical sense, but a community of seekers united in devotion to the Supreme. Their path is marked by humility, tradition and an unshakeable faith reflected in their gaze.

The gateway to India

When a collector of this work saw it for the first time, she knew: "This picture is a gate, a 'gate to India'." And indeed, André Wagner's photographic masterpiece has the ability to open spaces and connect dimensions. The glow of the lanterns, the play of light and shadow, the colors of the robes - all of this interweaves into a scene that immerses the viewer in a world that seems both distant and so close.

Holiness in Everyday Life

It is the true art of photography to make the invisible visible. This work reveals the deep spirituality of an apparently everyday moment. The warm earth tones, the luminous fabrics, the fine wrinkles on the faces - every detail tells a story of lived faith and unshakable devotion.

A timeless moment for your home

"Pilgrim Family" builds a bridge between past and present, between tradition and modernity. It's an invitation to stop and connect with the essence of the moment. This work is more than just a photograph -- it's an atmosphere, a feeling, a memory. Take inspiration from this deep spiritual power and bring the light and energy of India into your own four walls.

Darkness illuminated from within

Like an infinitely long filament of light, the light spiral runs through the historical vaults of Keshi Ghat. On the banks of the Yamuna River in the sacred city of Vrindavan, Keshi Ghat is the most important seaside resort in the city. The ancient, multi-storey buildings of red stone with their typical arcades and stairs down to the river are witnesses to centuries of traditions. In this photograph, the red glimmer of nocturnal light and the water of the Yamuna merge into an almost surreal setting - a sacred mirror of the magical atmosphere.

Our world is our mirror

Just as the building formation finds its reflection in the river, our self-image also reflects our environment as it continually forms from it. The idea of ourselves resulting from our thinking in turn determines our thinking. And our thinking determines the way we speak and the words we use. These words become actions, they become habits, and ultimately they determine our lives.

The environment is an infinite circle

The people around us, the activity we perform, the way we perceive our environment – all this is a result of our own being, a reflection of ourselves.

Let the light into your being!

And although this logical circle of sending and receiving seems to be mutually conditioned and immutable, we can still initiate a reorientation. Just as the filament illuminates the dark vaults, we too can free ourselves from dark habits and instead let light or positive energy enter into our inner being. This work, with its powerful color intensity, symmetrical perspective and deep symbolism, reminds us daily to consciously shape and positively nurture one's self-image.

Between Light and Silence

The morning fog is heavy in the air of Vrindavan, and before the sun touches the sky, a moment of timeless magic emerges.
A rooted tree, like a silent guardian, leans over the narrow pilgrimage route at Keshi Ghat - as if to bless the passers-by. The warm light breaks through the haze, shaping a mystical veil and making the old brick wall seem like a silent memory.

A sacred place in transition
This picture was taken in the early hours of the morning on my way to the Yamuna – where the river is worshipped as a goddess. Coming back from Yamuna River and Pilgrim FamilyAll testimonies of an ancient spiritual path that believers have walked in deep devotion for centuries.
The fog, the light, the waiting – all this reveals a mood between departure and return, between earthly presence and divine intuition.

A Work with Spiritual Breath
This image adds depth, silence and a touch of eternity to any space. It is particularly suitable for places of reflection, meditation or simply as a daily invitation to inner retreat. Let yourself be touched by a shot that not only shows light, but also makes the invisible experienceable.

Magical Morning Hour on the Sacred River

The air is heavy with fog, the light is warm and mysterious. In the early hours of the morning, I was standing in this very place known in Vrindavan as Keshi Ghat - one of the most important pilgrimage sites on the Yamuna River. The mystical atmosphere of the empty arcades that pilgrims otherwise flock through gave the scene something timeless and sacred. I had placed my medium format camera on a tripod while the first glimmer of the day fell through the arches of the gates. Here I captured moments that are now part of my most famous India series.

A place of spiritual strength and inner peace

Keshi Ghat is a mythical place - according to Vedic tradition, Krishna is said to have defeated the demon Keshi here. This energy is palpable, it is in the walls, in the stone floor, in the silence. This work invites you to connect with the depth of Indian spirituality, with the eternal cycle of light and darkness. It is a visual meditation on impermanence, presence and faith.

A work of art for special rooms

This image opens up spaces - not just architecturally, but emotionally. It anchors an aura of calm and inner retreat in every interior. It has a particularly powerful effect in places of retreat or contemplation. As a large-scale work, it unfolds all its depth and dignity.

A portal to another world
A quiet morning at the mysterious Kusum Sarovar, a place of spiritual depth and historical significance. The filigree pavilions are reflected in the calm waters as a golden circle of light breaks through the scenery – a portal to another dimension.

Between reality and fiction
This sacred site is inextricably linked to the history of Krishna, and pilgrims come here to recharge themselves with the divine energy, and in the midst of this atmosphere, the idea of Dimension DoorA circle of fire that opens a window into another reality. Inspired by the aesthetics of the film Stargate, the question arises: Where would a jump through that gate lead?

The Magic of the Unknown
This work combines silence, harmony and an almost supernatural energy. The reflections in the water enhance the surreal effect, while the symmetrical composition radiates a deep calm. Anyone looking at this image is inevitably drawn into the spell of the golden circle – an invitation to question the limits of perception.

A bridge between art and spirituality
"Shine, silence, harmony and elegance are united in your image. It inspired our interior and created an oasis of relaxation in which we can recharge for the next day. As an art historian, I am fascinated by how you manage to combine authenticity, spirituality and a high artistic quality in your works with an apparent ease." - Meike Lotz

Immersed in heavenly light
This work reveals an extraordinary view of the Indian goddess Durga and the monkey god Hanuman at the Vaishno Devi Temple in northern India. Visitors usually see this group of characters only frontally, but it opens up a new perspective – a moment when light and spirituality merge. The powerful counter-light mood increases the depth of the scene and captivates the viewer at first glance.

Supernatural power
Already created in 2014, the work fascinates with the perfect mastery of light. The statues, colorful during the day, appear raptured, their colors give way to a heavenly aura. An energy lies in the air - noticeable and unstoppable.

Durga, the goddess of perfection
In Hinduism, Durga symbolizes divine perfection and unshakable power. Armed with the gifts of all the gods, she defeated the buffalo demon Mahisasur – a symbol of the triumph of good over chaos.
